If you want deeper intuition, you have to find your lemonade stand.

I get asked all the time if I was born with intuitive gifts and while I believe I probably did come into this world with healing gifts, energetic awareness, and a strong intuitive compass these attributes were very quickly reprogrammed by cultural and familial belief systems that completely abolished my memory of them for most of my life.

My primary goal has always been to heal myself at a very deep soul level. I never set out to develop my intuition, it was a natural by-product of the healing process.

I have also come to believe that we are all born with a strong intuitive compass and that being intuitive is not actually a gift, it is an inherent sense that can be developed in all of us. So often when people ask me about my intuitive gifts, I realize what they are really asking is “can I learn to do that too?” And my answer is always YES!

There is no magic pill though, you have to be willing to ask, listen, receive, and act on the guidance you receive. Think about the analogy of a child asking his or her parent for something they really want. Some children will keep asking over and over again until they either get what they want or they give up and realize their parents are not going to buy it for them. Some kids depending on their upbringing may pray to God that this coveted prize shows up for them. Other kids are going to go out, put up a lemonade stand, and sell lemonade until they have enough money to buy what they want for themselves. Think about something you really want right now in your life, maybe it’s a relationship, job, a new career, a vacation, more free time, inner peace… Now ask yourself, which child am I? Am I the child who gives up because the challenge feels too steep? Am I the child who patiently waits for someone to hand it to me no matter how long it takes? (and if it never shows up you just make up a story about how you didn’t really want it anyway) Or are you the child who builds the lemonade stand and shows up every damn day in the hot sun to sell lemonade until you earn what it is you want.

When it comes to healing, I’m the kid sitting in the hot sun at the lemonade stand. The weather hasn’t always been ideal…it rains, it pours, thunders, lightening, snows, but I am stronger then the fucking storm. There are days, weeks, months, years when I have been too tired to show up, but I keep asking for healing. And spirit keeps pointing me back to the damn lemonade stand and I return and I know that showing up at that stand is the only way I’m going to get what I want. It’s the only way to heal my wounds, to return to wholeness, to find eternal inner peace. Let me be clear about your lemonade stand, most days it is the one thing you would plead with God about not wanting to do. “Really God?” “A lemonade stand?” There has got to be an easier way to get what I want and so we travel down that road (me too) and eventually something always brings us back to the lemonade stand, because we realize it’s our path. We can’t go around it, over it, or under it….we must go through it. YOUR lemonade stand IS those things in your life that you turn to in order to bring you back to yourself. Those things that peel away the external chaos and reveal the TRUTH. For me, it’s yoga, meditation, water, my people, and prayer. But the lemonade stand also represents the steps you must take to stand fully in your worth. Developing intuition is about deepening your faith in yourself. It is to know that you are so worthy of what you want and to trust with unshakable faith that lemonade is the path that will take you there. It is to believe so deeply in who you are despite a world of onlookers judging you for what you are selling. Your lemonade stand is the thing that will bring you what you want most, but you don’t do because you are so fucking terrified of what the world may think of you.

What is that thing you want and what is YOUR lemonade stand? Are you showing up? And are you ready to withstand the storm? If you are, Awareness Based Healing is a path that will take you there. And I guarantee you’ll find a lot more than intuition on the way there. Blessed Journeys.
